Message from UTC Sheffield City Centre

We have increased student online learning using Teams as the predominant method of delivery. This may be supplemented with face to face delivery on site in the coming weeks, for those students who require additional support. All students have been sent information on how to download and set up Teams. Should any student have difficulties with this, please contact admin@utcsheffield.org.uk and we will address your query as soon as possible. Therefore, our offer of face to face teaching, in line with government advice is that we will invite key worker/vulnerable/students who cannot access online delivery.

Please see the Letters page and the Covid-19 Update page for more information.

In these unprecedented times, we are sorry that we are unable to run the parents evening on 15 July 2020.  If you have any pressing concerns, please contact admin@utcsheffield.org.uk

Shauna, Creative & Digital

I really liked the atmosphere at the UTC – it is a small, friendly place full of like minded people who travel from across the region. Everyone is known and focused on their specialist subjects.

UTC Sheffield student Shauna McManus has gained the confidence and skills to go straight into employment.

Shauna has achieved an A Level in photography at grade A as well as a technical qualification in creative and digital media gaining double distinction*.

Now the 18-year-old, from Sheffield, has started a full-time permanent job as a sales and retention advisor at Plusnet, the internet services company.

She said: “I am really pleased with my grades. All the hard work that I put in has been worth it, I’m really chuffed.”

UTC Sheffield City Centre campus is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and was the first UTC to open in Yorkshire and Humber in September 2013.

Shauna said: “Everything that I have learned at the UTC including the technical, written and social skills, has equipped me with the know-how and confidence to get this job. I don’t want to go on to university. I’m much more interested in getting ahead in a career by starting a job straight away rather than putting that on hold.”

She added: “I really liked the atmosphere at the UTC – it is a small, friendly place full of like minded people who travel from across the region. Everyone is known and focused on their specialist subjects. The teaching staff were really supportive and I wouldn’t have wanted to go anywhere else.”

Alex Reynolds, Principal, UTC Sheffield City Centre, said: “Shauna has done incredibly well this Summer. Her hard work has paid off with a great set of results.  It is also fantastic to see her take advantage of the career focused nature of the UTC by heading straight into employment at Plusnet.  We wish her all the success with her career.”
