Message from UTC Sheffield City Centre

We have increased student online learning using Teams as the predominant method of delivery. This may be supplemented with face to face delivery on site in the coming weeks, for those students who require additional support. All students have been sent information on how to download and set up Teams. Should any student have difficulties with this, please contact admin@utcsheffield.org.uk and we will address your query as soon as possible. Therefore, our offer of face to face teaching, in line with government advice is that we will invite key worker/vulnerable/students who cannot access online delivery.

Please see the Letters page and the Covid-19 Update page for more information.

In these unprecedented times, we are sorry that we are unable to run the parents evening on 15 July 2020.  If you have any pressing concerns, please contact admin@utcsheffield.org.uk

‘The gym at UTC is great, I really think it helps with learning. We’ve also got state of the art computers and a virtual reality lab that we’ve used for biology.’

Horse riding enthusiast Georgia joined UTC, not only to study sport but, because of the employer and university links the school has.

Georgia, who has been riding since she was two, said, ‘I really enjoy sport and have a passion for horse riding, I have my own and have taught her everything. I’m hoping the UTC will help me towards my goal of either becoming a large animal vet or equine physiotherapist.’

Since starting UTC Georgia has been impressed by the facilities: ‘The gym at UTC is great, I really think it helps with learning. We’ve also got state of the art computers and a virtual reality lab that we’ve used for biology.’

She continues, ‘The best thing about UTC is the teachers, they actually spend time helping you one to one.’

As well as her studies at UTC Georgia also volunteers as an ambassador for sport helping at open evenings: ‘Normally I’ll do a speech for parents explaining why I chose UTC, what I think of my experience so far and then I’ll take people round to tour the facilities.’

For part of her sport course Georgia is studying a unit in coaching and has, herself, coached her classmates: ‘I’ve done two different coaching sessions. The first one was about gymnastics and the second team building, I found lots of exercises for that and it turned out to be quite mentally challenging, when I gave instructions people had to do the opposite or shout out the opposite.’

When asked what she would say to others considering joining the UTC Georgia said, ‘I’d say come and look, see if it’s for you because it’s a really good place to come!’
