Reece White has enjoyed developing his computing skills at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park and is looking forward to progressing onto university.
The 19-year-old has achieved a technical qualification in computing achieving a distinction distinction grade.
Now he is going on to study a Degree in Computer Science – Cyber Security at Staffordshire University. Reece said: “I feel absolutely amazing. I’m so pleased that I’ve got into my first choice university and that all of the hard work has finally paid off.”
Reece joined the UTC in Year 12 at the age of 16. He said: “I chose the UTC because I love computing. I’ve been interested in IT from being a young boy when my mum first bought me a PC.”
He added: “I also wanted a change. The UTC appealed to me because it feels different to a traditional school. The teachers have been very supportive and I liked the fact it is a new school with the latest equipment and facilities.”
During his studies, Reece worked on several employer set coursework computing projects that included creating an augmented reality game for the Army Cadet Force to train staff in navigation skills.
Dr Sarah Clark, Principal, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “Reece has made progress at the UTC, making valuable contributions to the computing both through academic and project work.”
