Year 11 Mya swaps Sport for Health Specialism
Soon-to-be Year 12 student Mya, is swapping her Sport specialism for the UTC’s Health Sciences and Social Care specialism and looking to pursue a career in the sector.
Asked how she was feeling about her results Mya said: “I’m really happy with my results. I’m really pleased with my Combined Science grade as I was struggling but I’ve managed to get a level 7/6.”
In her other subjects Mya achieved two Distinctions for her Cambridge National in Sport Science, a 7 in English Literature, 6s in English Language and Geography, and a 5 in Maths.
Discussing why she has decided to move to the Health Science and Social Care specialism, Mya said: “I came here really enjoying sport but after doing it for three years I wanted a change. I’m not 100% sure what I want to do, but maybe a speech therapist.”
Speaking about her overall UTC experience she said: “I think the biggest difference about studying at UTC has been the teachers. They help you more and have helped me to achieve the grades I have.”
To others thinking of joining the UTC, Mya would say: “Definitely do it. It’s been the right decision for me.”
Mya will now continue her studies at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park.
