Ice Hockey Success for UTC Student

A UTC student has his sights set on a career in professional Ice Hockey.

Year 9 Sport Science student, Ben Parkin, has been selected as a reserve goal keeper for the U14 England Ice Hockey team.

Following a successful trial in December 2018, Ben progressed to the second and final trials which took place during February half term 2019.

Ben said: “I am very proud to be selected to trial for England and it was a great experience. I tried my best and I am very focused on one day becoming number 1 for England for my age group.”

Matt Moorwood, Skills Trainer at UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “We are really proud of Ben, he has a bright future ahead of him and our Sports department will be supporting him to put on that England Jersey in the near future!”
