Curriculum

Students attending UTC Sheffield campuses will study a combination of GCSEs and A Levels alongside a technical qualification in their chosen specialisms.

At UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park the specialisms offered are:

  • Computing
  • Health Sciences
  • Sport Science

Year 9 and Key Stage 4

In Year 9, our students complete Key Stage 3 whilst also focusing on early skills development within specialisms.

At Key Stage 4 our students study a combination of core GCSE subjects alongside optional GCSE and technical qualifications for specialist pathways in Creative & Digital Media and Engineering.

Key Stage 5

At Key Stage 5, students study a Level 3 technical qualification alongside one, two or three A Levels, depending on a student’s ambitions. The offer is flexible to enable successful progression onto top quality university courses, advanced or higher apprenticeships, or directly into employment.

A Level Options to complement your specialism include:

  • Fine Art
  • English Language
  • Photography
  • Maths
  • Further Maths (if you are taking Maths)
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Product Design
  • Level 3 Core Maths
  • Level 3 Extended Project

We may also offer a Level 2 bridging the gap year at Post-16, which provides a step up to Level 3 qualifications. For advice please attend one of our open evenings.

There are opportunities for students to choose A Levels available at both campuses.

Entry Requirements

Students wishing to apply for a Year 12 place at UTC Sheffield must meet the following entry requirements:

  • 5 GCSE passes at grade 4 or above or A*-C or equivalent, including Maths and English (those applying for Engineering will also need a minimum of a 4+ in Science)
  • Grade 6 at GCSE for A Level subjects
  • Level 2 options are also available at both UTCs; students wishing to apply for this option will need 4 GCSE passes at Grade 3 or equivalent, including English and Maths.
