Post 16 students at UTC have been exploring their higher education opportunities at a careers event supported by HeppSY+.

On Tuesday 27th November, with the support of HeppSY+, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park held a “Life Beyond GCSEs” event for students and their parents to explore the option available to them after school.

The event was open to those in Years 11, 12 and 13 who are studying at UTC, as well as Year 11 students from across Sheffield and the surrounding area.

Around 20 higher education providers and organisation were in attendance including:  University of Huddersfield, University of Leeds, University of Nottingham, University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University, Longley Park Sixth Form College, The Sheffield College, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire (HeppSY+).

The event also included a special performance from celebrity boyband, New Kings Order, who found fame after reaching the judges houses on The X Factor.

Attendees were able to find out about the Post 16 offer at UTC through a presentation given by deputy head Garath Rawson.

Sarah Clark, Principal of UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, said: “We were delighted to host this higher education event which provided a fantastic opportunity for students from across the region to find out about the exciting careers and subject options available to them beyond their GCSEs.”
