UTC Sheffield Open Evening This Week

UTC Sheffield is holding an opening evening for young people and their parents this week where they will find out more about courses starting in September.
UTC Sheffield, Matilda Street, Sheffield city centre, has Year 10 and Year 12 places available. It is the first institution of its kind in Yorkshire, and recruits from across South Yorkshire and North East Derbyshire.
Students complete GCSEs and A-levels alongside specialist technical qualifications tailored to the skills needed by regional employers in the advanced engineering and manufacturing, and creative and digital sectors. Employers set work-related projects and support the curriculum.

Guests will meet staff, tour the new facilities, find out about the work-related projects, and get involved in hands-on activities. They will also discover the jobs, careers and higher education opportunities that studying at UTC Sheffield leads to.

Around 440 students, aged 14 to 19-years-old, are currently on roll at UTC Sheffield, which opened in September 2013. This is the final year of phased recruitment, which will see the £9.9 million facility reach its full capacity of 600 places for the next academic year.
Students have been involved in a variety of industry-led assignments and projects as part of the curriculum. Creative and digital learners have been developing an educational science mobile telephone app, in partnership with the Open University, whilst engineering students designed an aviation fuel pump for Rolls-Royce.
