YORKSHIRE’S FIRST UNIVERSITY TECHNICAL COLLEGE GETS PLANNING APPROVAL
Plans for Yorkshire’s first University Technical College are a step nearer to becoming reality after it secured planning permission today.
Cllr Leigh Bramall, Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Development at Sheffield City Council said: “Securing planning permission takes us another step closer to making the University Technical College a reality. The College will offer new opportunities to young people, boost Sheffield’s economy and will also mean local businesses can grow their own future employees.
“We have always been passionate about ensuring that the city has a highly skilled workforce and the UTC helps us to work closely with businesses to ensure that the next generation of workers in Sheffield have the right skills for the job.
“We need a highly skilled workforce with skills that are directly matched to the jobs that are out there now and in the future – this is what the University Technical College will offer. It will not only provide world class expertise right here in Sheffield, but it will also bring in much needed jobs to the area.”
