  • The UTC remains open for all other year groups.
  • When Sheffield moved into the Tier 2, high risk category, we had to cancel tours of the UTC, but we are currently looking at strategies to enable tours in some format in the near future. We will be in touch as soon as possible about transition meetings/possible tours.

Creative and Digital Media

The creative use of digital media drives most sectors from entertainment to engineering.

The Creative & Digital Media specialism at UTC Sheffield City Centre provides students with a wide range of digital skills, from vision and design to marketing and communication.

At KS4, you will study Level 2 OCR Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia, GCSE Media Studies and Level 2 BTEC First Award in Creative Media Production alongside GCSEs.

At KS5, you will study Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technicals in Digital Media alongside A Levels.

You will learn in hi-tech studios and media labs catering for film, photography, animation and web application.  State-of-the art facilities also include a sound studio for creating radio features and developing soundtracks exploring music technology and speech projects, as well as a superb art and design space with exhibition lounge.  See the full range of facilities.

Throughout each term, you will work on multimedia projects with creative and digital companies such as BBC Radio Sheffield, Sumo Digital and WARP Films, or event commissions such as local festivals with national and even international reputation like Sensoria and Docfest.

The digital and new media industries in our region are growing at a faster rate than anywhere else in the UK. Overall in the UK over 1.5 million people are employed in creative industries or in creative roles in other industries – so there’s no shortage of opportunity. This pathway at the UTC will give you a wide range of opportunities, including employment in UTC partner companies and access to top quality, relevant degree courses.
