Screen writing career beckons for talented Elliot
Aspiring television writer Elliot Sarjeant is looking forward to going to university having successfully completed his studies at UTC Sheffield City Centre.
The 18-year-old has completed a technical qualification in creative and digital media achieving a distinction* distinction* as well as a grade D in A Level in photography and a grade E in the extended project qualification.
Elliot joined the UTC in Year 12 at the age of 16. He is going onto study a Degree in Film Studies and Screen Writing at Sheffield Hallam University.
He said: “It felt exciting and scary opening my results but once I saw what I had got I felt very relieved.”
Elliot added: “It’s been fantastic to develop so many different creative skills at the UTC and understand what employers in the industry need. I’ve made a short film, a music video and a radio programme and tried magazine journalism and produced an advertising campaign.
“It was a bit scary moving schools in Year 12 but the UTC is a nice, friendly place. I found it really easy to make new friends and felt very welcomed. It’s inspired me to want to continue my studies and my career ambition is to write television dramas.”

This confidence has been channelled through excellent levels of effort and commitment throughout his studies which has led to a great set of results and the next stage of his career. Elliot has the ambition to pursue a career in television and I am sure he has a bright future ahead of him.”
