Miles, Engineering

Miles Edward-Wright has enjoyed a fresh start at UTC Sheffield and is looking forward to university.
The 19-year-old has completed a technical qualification in engineering at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus on Matilda Street.
He also studied two A Levels in maths and product development. Miles gained three grade Cs.
Miles said: “I am ecstatic. I had my doubts before I got my results but when I opened them I’d got the perfect results; it’s been brilliant!’
Now Miles is going on to study a Degree in Automotive and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hull.
Miles commented: “I decided to move across to the UTC after a year in sixth form at another school because I wanted to get into engineering. It felt like a fresh start for me. The UTC teachers are very supportive, and I was impressed with the engineering equipment. You get to study university level engineering.”
He added: “I really want to secure a career with a motor engineering employer such as Jaguar Land Rover afterwards. There is a real shortage of engineers in the world, and companies need people who have the right skills and really like the problem solving aspect – which is what the UTC teaches you.”
