Ambitious UTC Sheffield student Jack Wade is raring to get to university.
The 18-year-old is going on to study a Degree in Motorsport Engineering at Coventry University.
The UK is a world leader in the engineering industry, and motorsport involves the application of maths and physics to create innovative new technology.
Jack has completed a technical qualification in engineering, at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus on Matilda Street. He also studied three A Levels in maths, further maths and physics.
Jack achieved A*, A and D grades in his A Levels and a grade C in his engineering technical qualification. Jack said: “I’m happy with my results, especially my maths.”
Jack decided to join the UTC because students study a specialist technical subject, as well as having the chance to complete academic qualifications, that help them to get into university or work with an employer.
He said: “I have always enjoyed watching motorsport on television and that, as well as an interest in engineering, has inspired my career ambitions. The UTC curriculum covers different types of engineering so you get a good grasp of the range of topics such as computer aided engineering, electrical and pneumatic and control.
“I have really enjoyed my time at the UTC. I have learnt teamwork and problem solving skills. I want to thank the teachers for everything they have done for me. They have been so helpful, nothing was too much trouble.”
