UTC Students Take Part in ARUP Work Experience
Five of our students recently undertook work experience at ARUP, a global engineering firm.
The placement formed part of ARUPs work experience scheme, a week in the life, where 16 students from across the region are given the opportunity to experience working at ARUP. To secure a place students had to apply and be selected.
As part of the placement students were split into mixed teams and given a design brief and initial specification to generate and create a tourist attraction and destination in North Yorkshire. The brief included considering educational opportunities at the resort, sustainability, impact on the environment and local communities, transport infrastructure and inclusivity.
The resort also had to include an observatory/telescope, at least two conservatories to house different environments and facilities that would be required by tourists.
Students presented their ideas to a panel of three judges at the end of the placement, where they were commended for their efforts and given feedback on their presentations and ideas. A winning team was chosen, which included one of our students.
Well done to all our students who took part!
