Dear Parent/Carer/Student I would like to thank all parents for abiding by the government guidelines and supporting the welfare of the staff and students by keeping students at home. From today UTC Sheffield City Centre will be closed to all students until further notice and we will continue to review this status as we move forward. If you have any queries regarding work, please contact teaching staff via ‘Show My Homework’. For all other enquiries please contact admin@utcsheffield.org.uk We are urgently seeking clarification around provision for free school meals including the possibility of issuing vouchers. We will update you on the agreed arrangements at the earliest opportunity. The current status of Olympic Legacy Park is to remain open. Therefore if you have any urgent support need please contact us at admin@utcsheffield.org.uk Thank you again for all your support in these challenging and unprecedented times Kind regards, Alex Reynolds

Recent government guidelines is for parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and for schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. The most recent scientific advice on how to further limit the spread of the COVID- 19 is if children can stay safely at home, they should, to limit the chance of the virus spreading. We do not expect to see any of our Post 16 students at all unless you feel your child is vulnerable. Thank you for your support

  • Coronavirus Letter ( 427kb , pdf )

For hand sanitisers brought from home we would suggest some additional systems are in place: -It is recommended that parents/carers put their child’s name on the hand gel -Where possible it should not to be used by any other child -The hand sanitiser should be kept in the child’s bag/drawer -Parents/carers are responsible for making sure their child takes it home at the end of the school day There may be cultural sensitivities for some children if the hand sanitiser contains alcohol. Hand washing: -Please continue to promote regular handwashing. -Children should wash their hands at home before they set off: -They should wash their hands having used the toilet -They should wash their hands before eating -And they should wash their hands after sporting activities. Public Health England also suggested hand-washing on arrival at your setting and, also, after every break. If the above four opportunities to wash hands are implemented then this will create regular opportunities along with any other opportunities that you can provide. Washing hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or more remains the best method of cleaning hands. As well as regular handwashing, the “catch it, bin it, kill it” approach to dealing with coughs and sneezes is, also, an important routine to instil.
