UTC Sheffield Students Celebrate their GCSE Results
UTC Sheffield students are celebrating their GCSE results today – Thursday, August 24th.
A total of 82 students at UTC Sheffield City Centre campus on Matilda Street sat GCSEs and technical qualifications this summer.
Students have achieved a good set of results in the technical subjects of Engineering and Creative Digital Media, Mathematics and Sciences with 58% achieving a good GCSE in English and 64% in Mathematics.
At UTC Sheffield, students in Years 10 and 11 complete a technical qualification backed by employers as well as GCSEs.
This year 80% of students have successfully passed a technical qualification in either Engineering (80%) or Creative and Digital Media (75%), in addition to GCSEs.
Alex Reynolds, Principal, UTC Sheffield, said: “Students at UTC Sheffield benefit from developing high level technical skills that employers need as well as academic qualifications. We are pleased to see good performance in STEM subjects which will provide them with strong university and career prospects.”
UTC Sheffield City Centre campus is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and was the first UTC to open in Yorkshire and Humber in September 2013.
A second campus, UTC Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, opened in September 2016 and specialises in Computing, Health Sciences and Sport Science.

From September 2018, young people will be able to join the UTC from the age of 13 in Year 9.
