UTC Sheffield Students Celebrate Another Year Of Strong Technical and Academic Results
UTC Sheffield students are celebrating another year of strong A Level and technical results including a significant rise in the top grades today, Thursday August 17th.
At UTC Sheffield City Centre campus, students complete academic and technical qualifications in engineering or creative and digital, backed by employers.
The technical qualification pass rate this year for 121 students is 100% for creative and digital, and 96% for engineering.
Technical attainment at the higher grade boundaries is also extremely strong with creative and digital students achieving 67% and engineering students achieving 50% A* to B equivalent grades.
The A Level pass rate has also stayed consistently strong at 93% compared to 94% last year.
The number of students achieving A Level grades A* to B has significantly increased by 9% rising to 31% this year from 22% last year.
Approximately, 60% of the UTC students completed A Levels alongside their technical qualifications.
Alex Reynolds, Principal, UTC Sheffield, said: “These are fantastic results. We are extremely proud of our students and want to congratulate them on their technical excellence and academic success.”
He added: “Our employer inspired curriculum provides great apprenticeship, careers and university prospects. Our students get into the country’s leading universities. This year, two students have been successful in securing places at Cambridge University to study engineering.”
UTC Sheffield City Centre campus is Ofsted graded ‘good’ and was the first UTC to open in Yorkshire and Humber in September 2013.
All students complete a technical qualification in one or two specialisms: advanced engineering and manufacturing or creative and digital. They are equivalent to one-and-half or two A Levels.
