Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing

The Engineering & Advanced  Manufacturing specialism at UTC Sheffield’s City Centre Campus provides students with the knowledge and skills to work across this diverse and growing sector, from aerospace to electrical, from robotics to CAD.

At Key Stage 4, you will study for Level 2 OCR Cambridge Nationals in Advanced Engineering Manufacture, Engineering Design and System & Control or BTEC First Diploma, alongside GCSEs.

At Key Stage 5, you will study for Level 3 OCR Cambridge Technicals Engineering or a Level 3 National Diploma, alongside A Levels.

You will learn in state-of-the-art facilities including engineering mini-factories that will simulate the real manufacturing environment, high-spec prototyping workshops and sophisticated machine suites, advanced Mac-based design suites, Arduino and Raspberry Pi workshops and IT environments for creating, inventing and testing with technology.

Throughout each term, you will work on projects provided by employers such as Rolls Royce or Lavender International.  You might be working with your team to produce the best performing model racing car, or researching and exploring different types of manufacturing technologies with top employers like Siemens.

Our region is set to become a hub for high-tech engineering and manufacturing in the UK.   Local employers are wanting to recruit 6000 Level 3 engineers of different kinds over the next five years. UTC Sheffield’s Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing pathway will prepare you for apprenticeships, higher apprenticeships and jobs in these companies and beyond.  You will also be well prepared to gain access to relevant university courses
