Admissions Policy Consultation

In June 2017 The Sheffield UTC Multi-Academy Trust proposed a change in admissions to allow Year 9 students to join both UTC Sheffield centres (City Centre and Olympic Legacy Park) from September 2018. Current recruitment was into Year 10 and Year 12. The proposal was supported by the Multi-Academy Trust Board and both UTC Sheffield governing bodies, as well as by the Baker Dearing Trust which oversees and supports all University Technical Colleges. On the basis of a six-week consultation and a range of other evidence, the proposal to admit Year 9 students was approved by the Department for Education in August. As a result, both Year 9 and Year 10 students will be admitted to the UTC in September 2018.

We are now consulting about a change to the Admissions Policy to admit Year 9 students only from September 2019 for the 2019/20 Academic year. You can download and review the proposed revised Admissions Policies for both UTC Sheffield centres (City Centre and Olympic Legacy Park) below:

You can read full details about the Year 9 consultation in May to June of this year, together with the results and clarification of both the reasons for the proposal and measures being taken to address any concerns that arose from the consultation, on the website here.
